Claret Studio is led by architect Tim Clare, a designer with over a decade of experience delivering thoughtful, low-carbon projects across homes, communities and landscapes. Guided by a commitment to regenerative design, Tim combines material honesty with elegant, enduring architecture that reduces environmental impact while enriching daily life.

The studio’s work is grounded in research and practice with natural and low-embodied-carbon materials, exploring how architecture can contribute to a more resilient and beautiful future.

Design

Great architecture begins by responding to its environment. At Claret Studio, we believe the most sustainable buildings are those that work with the climate, the site and the people who inhabit them.

Every project starts with passive design principles: understanding the sun, prevailing breezes, orientation, shading and thermal mass to create homes that are naturally comfortable throughout the year. By reducing the need for mechanical heating and cooling, these simple design decisions improve comfort, lower energy use and create spaces that feel connected to their surroundings.

As a Certified Passivhaus Designer, Tim applies the building science behind one of the world's leading high-performance building standards. Passivhaus builds upon passive design through five core principles: exceptional insulation, airtight construction, high-performance windows and doors, the elimination of thermal bridges, and balanced mechanical ventilation with heat recovery. Together, these create homes with stable indoor temperatures, excellent air quality and dramatically reduced energy demand.

These principles are not a prescription but a foundation. Every project is unique, and we thoughtfully adapt our approach to suit the site, the brief and the client's aspirations. Combined with natural, low-carbon materials and careful craftsmanship, our goal is to create homes that are beautiful, resilient and enduring places that feel effortless to live in today while remaining adaptable for generations to come.
